Cancer Care Massage
Cancer care massage is a Touch therapy which includes specific adjusments to modify standard massage to oncology massage (a special type of massage developed specifically for cancer patients), using Lindi Skincare, which is developed with the unique needs of cancer patients in mind
For many years the myth that massage was not advisable for cancer patients had led me to turn a number of clients diagnosed with cancer away from my practice as when I originally trained in massage, we were advised that massage was not suitable.
However I am pleased to reassure you that massage for cancer patients is exactly what they need. I was introduced to an amazing lady, Christine Clinton, she is based in the USA and works closely with the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, the most pre eminent Cancer research hospital in the world. I trained in cancer care massage with Christine in Ireland. This course is ITEC approved and recognised worldwide.
Cancer care massage promotes relaxation, reducing stress physically & emotionally associated with the side effects that often occur during Chemotherapy and/ or radiation.
What happens during the treatment?
I include a full consultation at your first appointment and this will be reviewed before each treatment to follow your progress through the course of your treatment plan.
The type of cancer, the stage of cancer and the side effects of Chemotherapy & Radiation that you may be experiencing will be taken into consideration.

I will be aware of position adjustments, site restrictions and pressure adjustments. The most important aspect of the treatment is that you feel comfortable and at ease.
Each treatment will be tailored on how you are feeling on that specific treatment day, any requests that you may have and where you may be experiencing tension in your body. It may include a facial, neck & shoulder massage, hot stone massage, foot & leg massage and/or hand massage. Again, this is dependant on what you would like.
The duration of the treatment will be 90min for the first treatment which will include the consultation. The follow up treatment length can be adjusted to suit your needs.
